Each time you go on a four-wheeler ride, there is a chance that you will get stuck. After all, you are taking a heavy vehicle into unpredictable nature. Potholes, muddy areas, and more could be lurking on the trail, which is why it's wise to brush up on techniques for getting your quad unstuck...before you get stuck.

We’ve gathered up the following techniques to get an ATV unstuck. If you have questions or want to shop ATVs for sale, contact S&N MotorSports. Our dealership is located in Port Charlotte, Florida, and we also serve those in Fort Myers.

Use A Winch To Get Unstuck

A winch is a popular quad accessory thanks to its ability to help get riders unstuck. The winch can be used in two ways.

One approach is to connect the winch to your ATV and then to another vehicle, letting the other vehicle tow you to get you unstuck. This is handy if you often ride with others and they can use their quads to get you out.

The other option is to connect the winch to your quad and then to something sturdy nearby, such as a large tree. This stability will help you drive your four-wheeler out of its stuck state.

Use A Come-Along To Get Unstuck

A come-along is a small and hand-powered winch, providing another way to get your ATV unstuck. You'll need some tow straps, which will anchor the come-along to your quad.

The perk of a come-along is its compact size. Most models can fit into a backpack or other small storage space.

Bring A DIY Anchor

If you plan on using a winch paired with an anchor, you will need an anchor! In some cases, you may be in a location that does not have large trees or heavy items handy to use as an anchor. It's helpful to bring your own anchor to these riding areas.

Common anchors are a small steel rod with an eye bolt or ice-climbing anchors. Simply insert these into the ground angled away from your four-wheeler. Then, connect the towing straps and get your ATV unstuck.

Pack A Shovel

Sometimes, your ATV gets stuck in the mud or some other slippery terrain. A shovel can be used to remove some of the mud from your quad's wheels. With a little bit of digging, you can get your four-wheeler unstuck and back on the trail in no time.
