It happens. You hit a wave a little too hard or awkwardly and suddenly, you’re bucked off and into the water. It happens even more when you’re new to owning a Sea-Doo PWC. Don’t worry, it’s just a part of the learning curve. However, when you’re ready to get back on, what’s the best method? It may not be as easy as you think and you can fumble while hoisting yourself back up. Luckily, S&N Motorsports is here with some tips on how to reboard your Sea-Doo. You’ll be able to climb on safely and effortlessly after you’re done going through our guide!

1. Make Sure the Engine is Off

In the event you fall off while riding, the engine can sometimes still be on if the driver neglects to disconnect the safety lanyard. This poses a danger if you try to swim back up to your Sea-Doo. The intake of the jet pump and thrust of the pump nozzle is a hazard so it’s best to practice caution by ensuring everything is turned off before swimming up to it.

If you’re a passenger who has fallen overboard, make sure the driver is aware as soon as possible so they can disconnect the safety lanyard.

2. Approach the Craft

Engine’s off, now what? Swim up to the stern of the Sea-Doo PWC and flip the boarding step down to create initial leverage to pull up. Next you’ll want to firmly grasp the rear handle at the back of the saddle to pull yourself up and onto the craft—using the boarding step to gain footing. From there, you should be able to get your opposite knee in place onto the swim platform to then get seated in the saddle and regain control of your Sea-Doo.

Not every Sea-Doo model has a boarding step though. In that case, you’ll have to use upper body strength to to grab the hand holds and muscle yourself onto the swim platform.

3. Practice

One way to ensure you’re prepared if you ever fall off your Sea-Doo is practice. Find a calm body of water for you and your craft to float in and try these steps out when you can control the variables. Confidence in reboarding is obtained through familiarity in the process.
